Flying geese math, both ways
The no-waste method makes four geese from one large square (finished width + 1 1/4") and four small squares (finished height + 7/8") — nothing gets trimmed away. The traditional stitch-and-flip method makes one goose from a rectangle (finished + 1/2" each way) and two small squares, and the trimmed corners can become bonus half-square triangles. A standard goose is twice as wide as it is tall, but any ratio works here.
