About Sashing
A quilting calculator worth trusting at the cutting table.
Sashing does one thing and tries to do it well: the fabric math for a quilt, from a finished size down to the exact cuts. It runs on your iPhone, works offline, and keeps your projects to yourself.
Why we built it
We started with a simple frustration. The quilting calculators we could find felt dated, and a few of them were quietly wrong. A rounding shortcut here, a seam allowance left out there, and you end up cutting fabric you did not need or, worse, coming up short in the middle of a project.
Fabric costs money, and a miscut can waste yards of it. So we wanted a tool that shows its work. Every calculator in Sashing displays the formula behind the number, so you can check it before the rotary cutter touches the fabric. The defaults are chosen to stop over-cutting rather than pad the estimate.
That is the whole idea. Fast, honest numbers for backing, binding, borders, sashing, half-square triangles, and a full cut list for the quilt you are actually making.
Private by design
Your quilts are your business. Sashing is built so that your work stays with you.
On your device
The calculators are on-device math. Your stash, projects, and settings live on your iPhone, not on our servers.
Your own iCloud
Sync runs through your personal iCloud account, so your data moves between your devices without passing through us.
No account
There is no sign-up, no password, and no email to hand over. You open the app and start measuring.
No ads, no tracking
We do not show ads and we do not track you. There are no analytics profiles following you around.
Who makes Sashing
Sashing is made by Handler Labs LLC, a small independent studio. We are not funded by ads and we do not sell your data, because there is nothing to sell: your data never reaches us. The app pays for itself through a straightforward purchase, and that keeps the incentives honest.
